EMS Palliative and End of Life Care

A new provincewide EMS program is helping paramedics relieve stress on palliative care patients and their families as well reducing pressure on emergency departments. The EMS Palliative and End of Life Care Assess, Treat and Refer program now allows paramedics to work with community clinicians to bring care to patients in their home or care facility instead of automatically transporting them to hospital.聽 In this brief video, Richard Horth talks about how the program helped make his partner鈥檚 wish to die at home come true.
