Combined Laboratory & X-Ray Technologist

Dual-discipline diagnostic professionals

Combined laboratory & x-ray technologists play a critically important role in the diagnosis, disease prevention and public health surveillance.

They are responsible for collecting, preparing and analyzing patient samples, providing general patient care and taking blood. They conduct medical laboratory tests and administer electrocardiograms. They are also responsible for general radiography exams (X-ray).

Compensation

$33.98 - $47.30 per hour

Registration

Duties

  • Produce high quality images for radiologists to interpret in accordance with physician requests
  • Follow proper lab and x-ray processes and procedures
  • Use a variety of instruments and equipment, ensuring proper function, and troubleshooting as necessary
  • Ensure the accuracy of test results
  • Provide leadership and work guidance to fellow laboratory and x-ray staff and students

Make a Difference

  • Help patients, physicians, and other health professionals get the information they need for an accurate diagnosis
  • Facilitate monitoring and management of ongoing health concerns
  • Help physicians in preventative and preemptive treatment of disease
  • Collect data for public health surveillance

Work Collaboratively

  • Collaborate with a variety of other health care disciplines, including other technologists, therapists, nurses, and physicians
  • Work in a variety of health care settings, such as rural hospitals, cancer care centres, x-ray clinics, community labs, and public health labs
